Abstract

Introduction: Infertility is one of the most common human problems that causes many psychological disorders. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of positive psychotherapy based on optimism on happiness and well-being of infertile women.
method: The research design was quasi-experimental with pre-test-post-test design and follow-up with the control group. The statistical population of this study included infertile women referred to infertility clinics in Mashhad in 1399. 26 people were selected by voluntary sampling method and randomly divided into experimental (N = 13) and control (N = 13) groups. The research instruments include the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire and the well-being Questionnaire. Questionnaires were completed before and after the intervention and after one month of follow-up. The data were analyzed by repeated measures analysis of variance and LSD post hoc test.
Results: The results showed that happiness (p <0.01) and well-being (p <0.01) of the experimental group increased significantly compared to the control group, and these results continued until one month after the intervention (p <0.01).
Conclusion: Based on the results of the present study, it can be said that positive optimism-based psychotherapy has a positive and significant effect on the happiness and well-being of infertile women and can be used to increase the happiness and well-being of infertile women in infertility diagnosis and treatment centers.
