Introduction
Drug addiction, as one of the most serious social issues in the world, encompasses various dimensions of sociology, psychology, law, politics and economics and is the cause of many harms and social deviations. The aim of this study was to present a model of addiction recurrence based on early maladaptive schemas and obsessive-compulsive disorder mediated by emotion seeking in self-reported addicts.
Material and Method
The design of the present study was descriptive and the design of the correlation study was a structural equation model and LISREL software was used to evaluate the findings. The statistical population of the present study consists of all 2204 self-reported addicted patients referring to drug abuse treatment centers in Tonekabon and Abbasabad counties in 1399, numbering 2204, of which 278 were selected by available sampling method and Responded to Wright (1993) Addiction Relapse Questionnaire, Young (1998) Early maladaptive Schemas, Hodgson & Rachmann (1977), and Marvin Zuckerman (1978); Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling.
Results
Findings showed that due to the less direct effect of indirect pathways than indirect pathways, the presence of emotion mediating variable increased the relationship between early maladaptive schemas and obsessive-compulsive disorder with the recurrence of addiction and the mediating role of emotion seeking in the present study. Confirmation occurs. Other findings confirm the association between early maladaptive schemas and obsessive-compulsive disorder with recurrence of addiction.
