Abstract

Introduction: One of the most important aspects of every person's life is married life. Marital boredom is known as one of the most important consequences of serious conflicts in the family. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of Feldman multilevel couple therapy on marital commitment and intimacy and individual and interpersonal forgiveness in couples with marital boredom.
Method: Thirty couples referred to the counseling center of Ibn Sina Hospital in Mashhad, using purposive sampling method, were randomly divided into experimental and control groups, taking into account the inclusion criteria. Questionnaires of marital commitment, marital intimacy and interpersonal forgiveness were administered to the sample members in two stages of pre-test and post-test. The experimental group received ten sessions of Feldman multilevel couples therapy, during which time no intervention was performed for the control group. Data were analyzed using one-way analysis of covariance at the level of 0.05.
Results: The results of data analysis showed that the mean of marital commitment and intimacy and individual and interpersonal forgiveness in the experimental group members were significantly different compared to the control group members (P <0.001).
Conclusion: These findings indicate the importance of paying attention to the components of multilevel therapy in improving the emotional and cognitive functions of couples with marital boredom.
