Abstract
Introduction: The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Narrative-therapy approach on stress management of mothers with physically disabled children. The research was applied in terms of purpose and in terms of data collection was field quasi-experimental research and pre-test and post-test with control group.
Materials and Methods: The statistical population in the present study was all mothers with children with physical disabilities in Izeh in 1399-1400, which was 2000 people. From the statistical population, mothers with stress management disorders, were identified and 50 people were selected as a sample by simple random sampling method and were randomly selected 25 people in control and 25 people in experimental group. The Bar-On (1997) Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire was used to perform the pre-test and post-test. The subjects of both groups underwent a pre-test before performing the independent variable and then the experimental group was trained in Narrative therapy for 8 sessions (each session for 45 to 60 minutes), after the post-test was performed for both groups and the collected data was analyzed by statistical method of Analysis of Covariance.
Results: Findings showed that the Narrative-therapy approach is effective on the stress management of mothers with physically disabled children with a significance level of p≤0.05.
Conclusion: According to the research findings, it can be concluded that the Narrative-therapy approach has been effective on the stress management of mothers with children with physical disabilities.
