Introduction: The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effectiveness of emotion-oriented therapy on intolerance of uncertainty and forgiveness in married women who have experienced betrayal.
Methods: The research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the study included all the betrayed women who referred to counseling clinics in Qom city in 1402. Among these people, 30 people were selected by available sampling and according to the entry and exit criteria; And they were randomly placed in the experimental group and the control group (15 people in each group). The participants completed the Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale (IUS) and the Interpersonal Forgiveness Scale (IFI) in the pre-test and post-test stages. The experimental group received the education program based on emotion-oriented therapy in 8 sessions of 90 minutes. Data analysis was done using SPSS-24 software and multivariate analysis of covariance test in compliance with statistical assumptions.
Results: The results showed that emotion-oriented therapy is significantly effective on intolerance of uncertainty and forgiveness in married women who have experienced betrayal (P ≤ 0.001).
Conclusion: According to the results of the research, it can be said that the emotion-oriented approach is an effective treatment for intolerance of uncertainty and forgiveness of married women who have seen infidelity.
