Background: The purpose of this study was to comparing effectivness of schema therapy and acceptance commitment based on group therapy on identity styles and distress tolerance of teen girls.
Method: This experimental study was conducted with pretest-posttest and control group with two-month follow-up. The statistical population of this study included all the female students of high sxhool Tehran city in year academic 2018-2019. In this study, 45 teen girls were considered as the sample size in two experimental group’s and control (15 teen girls). The experimental groups underwent schema therapy (12 sessions 90 minutes) and acceptance commitment based on group therapy (12 sessions 90 minutes), but the control group received no training. To collect data revised identity style inventory. Data analysis was performed using SPSS-23 software in two sections: descriptive and inferential (analysis of variance with repeated measures and Bonferroni).
Results: The results showed that both of the schema therapy and acceptance commitment based on group therapy used in this study can significantly improve the identity styles and distress tolerance of teen girls, but the schema therapy on identity styles has a greater impact and the results have had enough consistency in the follow-up period, as well.
Conclusion: Results highlight the importance of these interventions for identity styles among teen girls and providing new perspectives in clinical interventions. So pay attention to the effectiveness of schema therapy and acceptance commitment based on group therapy in counseling and psychotherapy of teen girls has a special significance.
