Abstract

Introduction: The overall purpose of this study was to investigate the role of sports coaches in sociability of athletes. The statistical population of this study consisted of athletes in football, wrestling and badminton. Due to the unknown number of athletes, the number of sample samples based on Morgan's table was 384 people and were selected proportionally. In this study, a researcher-made questionnaire based on the findings of the research paradigm model was used, which included 49 questions that were answered with a 5-point Likert from strongly disagree (1) to strongly agree (5). The questionnaire included 5 components which were education (10 questions), mass media (12 questions), the role of sports coaches (9 questions), reference groups (12 questions) and youth interest in sports (6 questions). In the quantitative part, descriptive statistical method, skewness and elongation indices, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling with partial least squares approach were used to analyze the descriptive data. For statistical analysis of this research, version 24 of SPSS software and version 3 of Smart Pls software were used. The results showed that sports coaches have a significant positive effect on the sociability of athletes. Reference groups have a significant positive effect on the sociability of athletes.
