Comparison of depression, anxiety and occupational stress in nurses of psychiatric and nursing hospitals in Tehran

Abstract
Introduction: The purpose of this study was to compare depression, anxiety and job stress in nurses of psychiatric and non-psychiatric hospitals in Tehran.
Methods The research method was descriptive and causal-comparative in terms of purpose and data collection. The statistical population consisted of all nurses in psychiatric and non-psychiatric hospitals in Tehran. The sample consisted of 62 nurses in psychiatric and non-psychiatric wards of hospitals (31 in each hospital) who were selected using available sampling method. The instruments used in this study are Beck Depression Inventory, Beck Anxiety Inventory and Frenchch et al.
Results: The results showed that there was a significant difference between nurses in psychiatric and non-psychiatric hospitals regarding depression, anxiety and job stress (P <0.000).
  Conclusion: The level of depression, anxiety and job stress in nurses in psychiatric ward is higher than non-psychiatric nurses.
