The Effectiveness of Play Therapy Based on Sensory Diet in Sensory Adjustment Vestibular Sense / Balance in Autistic Children

Abstract

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of Play Therapy Based on Sensory Diet in Sensory Adjustment Vestibular Sense / Balance in autistic Children in Tehran City in 1397.
Methods: The method of this study was quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest design with control group. The statistical population of the study included all children with autism in Tehran Autism Society. The statistical sample of this study consisted of 20 individuals who were selected by convenience sampling and were randomly assigned to experimental (n = 10) and control (n = 10) groups. The experimental group received 25 minutes of 45-minute sessions of sensory-based game therapy and the control group remained on the waiting list. Data collection was done according to Wini Don (1997) standard sense test and then analyzed by repeated measures ANOVA.
 Results: The results showed that Play Therapy Based on Sensory Diet in Sensory training significantly (P <0.05) improved the vestibular / balance sensitivity of autistic children.
Conclusion:  Therefore, it can be concluded that sensory regimen-based play therapy as an effective method can improve the sense of balance in children with autism disorder.
