Evaluation of the effectiveness of short-term psychotherapy skills training on Anxiety Sensitivity, intolerance of uncertainty, Mental Health and Health Indicators in Couples who had Decided to get Divorced

Abstract

Introduction: Divorce is one of the most important psychological issues in couples population which is related to factors such as anxiety sensitivity, uncertainty intolerance, mental health and health indicators in couples. Different intervention models have been studied to modify these factors. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of short-term psychotherapy skills training on anxiety sensitivity, uncertainty intolerance, mental health, and couple health indicators on the verge of divorce.
Materials and Methods: The present study was a quasi-experimental study with pre-test and post-test design and control group that was done on couples in Mashhad in 1397. Thirty (60) couples who were eligible for inclusion were voluntarily selected and 15 couples (30 persons) in the control group and 15 couples (30 persons) in the experimental group were randomly assigned. Revised anxiety susceptibility questionnaires, uncertainty intolerance, general health, and body mass index, blood pressure and ظthen the intervention group received short-term psychodynamic skills intervention. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 22 software and covariance analysis test.
Results: The results of covariance analysis showed that the intervention of short-term psychiatric skills training had a significant effect on anxiety sensitivity, uncertainty intolerance, mental health and couple health indicators (P <0.001).
Conclusion: The results of this study showed that short-term psychosocial skills training program was effective in improving anxiety level, uncertainty intolerance, mental health and health indicators in couples.
