Abstract

Introduction: The present study, with the aim of determining the effectiveness of schema therapy on intimacy and emotional failure of couples, had a chaotic relationship in Tehran in 1398.
Methods: The present study was a quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest design with a experimental and control group. The statistical population included all couples with disturbed relationships in Tehran who were selected by available sampling method and randomly divided into two experimental groups (15 people) and control (15 people). In 12 90-minute sessions, the experimental group received intervention based on schema therapy training, and the control group remained on the waiting list. The measurement tools used in the study were the Walker and Thompson Intimacy Questionnaire (1983) and the Toronto Emotional Disability Questionnaire (1994). The analysis of the information obtained from the implementation of the questionnaire was performed through spss19 software in two descriptive and inferential sections (covariance).
Results: The results showed that the average intimacy of couples with chaotic relationships has changed and has increased intimacy in couples. Schema therapy has also reduced couples' emotional failure with disturbed relationships.
Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that the training of schema therapy has had a positive effect on improving emotional failure and intimacy of couples with chaotic relationships.
