Comparison of self-image, quality of thematic relationships and gender role conflict in fertile and infertile women

Abstract

Introduction: The aim of this study was to compare self-image, quality of thematic relationships and gender role conflict between fertile and infertile women.

Methods: The method of the present study was causal-comparative. From the community of women with infertility, 200 people and also 200 fertile women were selected by available sampling method and according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria as a sample. The Tennessee Self-Concept Scale by Fitz and Warren (1996), the Thematic Relationship Quality Questionnaire (1995) and the Gender Role Conflict Scale by Onil et al. (1986) were used to collect data. Independent T method was used to analyze the collected data.

Results: Findings showed that between fertile and infertile women in the fields of self-image (F = 90.237, P = 0.000), quality of thematic relationships (F = 33.941, P = 0.000) and gender role conflict (F = 72.586, F = 0.000 P) There was a significant difference.

Conclusion: the group of fertile women had higher self-image, quality of thematic relationships and gender role conflict.
