Abstract

Introduction:The purpose of this study was to determine the difference between the effectiveness of emotional focused therapy and cognitive -behavioral therapy on quality of life in obese women with PCOS.
Materials and Methods: The statistical population consisted of all women with(pcos)in the age range of 20-40 who referred to IbnSina clinic in Tehran in  2019. The sampling method of this study was purposive sampling by matching and homogenizing based on celibacy, marriage, age and education and by random substitution in groups  were replaced. The research instrument was the Health-Related Quality of Life Questionnaire for Patients with PCOS developed by Cronin et al. 1998. After completing the pretest, the intervention groups received 9 sessions of intervention while the control group did not receive any intervention during this period. Results: Data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of variance with repeated measures.
Results: The results showed that there was a significant difference between the mean scores of quality of life in terms of group membership (experimental groups and control group) in the post-test stage. Therefore, emotion-focused therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy improved quality of life scores compared to the control group (P <0.05). Also there is no statistically significant difference between the effectiveness of emotion-based therapy compared to cognitive-behavioral therapy in quality of life. The results showed that the effectiveness of emotional-focused therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy on quality of life in the follow-up phase was continuous.
Conclusion: emotion focused therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy is an effective way to increase the quality of life in obese women withPCOS.
