The Effectiveness of Integrated Package of Marital Relationship Enrichment and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy on Marital Satisfaction and Relationship Beliefs in women with Addicted Spouse

Abstract

Background and Aim: Considering the negative and comprehensive effects of addiction on marital dynamics of addicted persons and their wives, the study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of integrated package of marital relationship enrichment and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy on marital satisfaction and relationship beliefs in women with addicted spouse.
Materials and Methods: This is a semi-experimental study with pre-test, post-test, follow-up and a control group. The statistical population included all women with addicted spouse in Isfahan in 2019 that 22 women with addicted spouses referring to addiction treatment clinics and camps in Isfahan city were selected by available sampling and were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The study instruments were Relationship beliefs inventory and Marital satisfaction questionnaires. Experimental group participated in eight 90-minute sessions of integrated package of marital relationship enrichment and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy but the control group did not receive any intervention. Multivariate analysis of covariance was used to analyze the data.
Results: The results demonstrated that integrated package of marital relationship enrichment and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy the dimensions of psychological distress and the subscales of negative automatic thoughts in post-test and follow-up (p<0.05)
Conclusion: Based on the finding of this research integrated package of marital relationship enrichment and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy was effective on marital satisfaction and relationship beliefs in women with addicted spouse.
