Efficiency of Therapeutic Model Based on Therapeutic Schema and Compassion-Focused Therapy on the Self-Compassion in Conflicting Women with Early Maladaptive Schemas Related to Disconnection and Rejection Domain

Abstract

Introduction and purpose: The present study was conducted with the purpose of investigating the efficiency of therapeutic model based on therapeutic schema and compassion-focused therapy on the self-compassion in conflicting women with early maladaptive schemas related to disconnection and rejection domain.
Material and methods: The present study was quasi-experimental with pretest, posttest and control group design. The statistical population of the present study included conflicting women with early maladaptive schemata related to disconnection and rejection domain who attended consultation centers in the city of Isfahan in the summer of 2020. 30 women were selected through non-random purposive sampling method and they were randomly accommodated into experimental and control groups (15 women in the experimental group and 15 in the control group). The experimental group received therapeutic model intervention based on therapeutic schema and compassion-focused therapy (10 sessions) during two-and-half months. The applied questionnaires in the current study include marital conflict (Barati and Sanaei, 1996), early maladaptive schemas questionnaire (Yang, 1998), self-compassion questionnaire (neff, 2003). The data from the study were analyzed through ANCOVA method via SPSS23 statistical software.
Findings : The results showed that the therapeutic model based on therapeutic schema and compassion-focused therapy has effect on the self-compassion in conflicting women with early maladaptive schemas related to disconnection and rejection domain (p<0.0001) such that this therapy led to the increase of the women’s self-compassion.
