Predicting quality of life based on social support, source of health control and disease perception in patients with heart failure

Background and Aim: Identifying psychological variables involved in the quality of life of patients with heart failure can be effective in improving their quality of life; Therefore, the present study aimed to predict the quality of life of patients with heart failure based on social support, health control and disease perception in patients with heart failure.

Method: The research method was correlational. The statistical population consisted of all patients with heart failure referred to hospitals in Rasht in 1400. A total of 193 patients were selected by available and voluntary sampling. The data collection tool was Quality of Life Scale, Wallston Health Control Source Questionnaire, and Disease Perception Questionnaire, which was completed by patients with heart failure.

Results: The results showed that the source of control, disease perception and social support were significant predictors of quality of life (P <0.05). Conclusion: It can be concluded that quality of life is predictable based on social support, source of health control and perception of disease in patients with heart failure.
