Comparison of the effectiveness of compassion-based therapy and attachment-based compassion therapy on depression and eating pattern in diabetics

Abstract
The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of compassion-based therapy and compassion-based attachment therapy on depression and eating pattern in diabetics. The research method was all experimental control group with pre-test, post-test and quarterly follow-up. The statistical population of this study included all patients with diabetes referred to the Alborz Diabetes Association (Ferdis Diabetes Clinic) and had an active file in the Ferdis Diabetes Association in Karaj in 1397. 44 eligible individuals were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria and by available sampling method and were replaced in two experimental groups and one control. Data collection tools were the Frangrani Wells Questionnaire (1994) and the Dutch Eating Habit Questionnaire (Van Austrin et al., 1986). Both experimental and control groups were pre-tested using research tools. Then the intervention of compassion-based therapy and attachment-based compassion-based therapy were performed in eight sessions for their respective experimental groups. At the end of the interventions, both experimental and control groups were post-tested using research tools. Data were analyzed using mixed analysis of variance. Findings showed that compassion-based therapy and compassion-based attachment therapy are effective on depression and eating pattern in diabetics (p <0.01).
