The Effectiveness of Computer-Based Cognitive Rehabilitation on Academic Motivation and Academic Excitement of Female Junior High School Students

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of computer-based cognitive rehabilitation on students' academic motivation and academic excitement. The research method is experimental with pre-test and post-test design with control group. The statistical population of the study included all female high school students in Ardabil in the academic year 2020-2021, from which a sample of 30 people was selected by cluster random sampling and randomly divided into two experimental and control groups of 15 people. To conduct the research, first, under the same conditions, both groups of per-test were tested using the educational motivation questionnaire of Worland et al. (1992) and the Pekran academic excitement questionnaire; and then, the experimental group was trained in Captain Log cognitive software for 16 sessions and the control group did not receive any intervention. At the end of the training sessions on the experimental group, both groups underwent post-test under the same conditions. Data were analyzed by multivariate analysis of covariance. The results showed that computer-based cognitive rehabilitation intervention in the experimental group has increased students' motivation and academic excitement (P = 0.000).
Based on the results of these findings, it can be said that teaching the computer cognitive rehabilitation program can be used as a suitable method to increase students' motivation and academic excitement.
