Abstract

Introduction
Obesity, as a global and growing health problem, provides the basis for the occurrence of chronic diseases and is associated with many physical-psychological problems. This research was conducted with the aim of comparing the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness on improving the body mass index of overweight patients.
Material and Method
The method of this research is a semi-experimental type with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. From the statistical population of overweight women (body mass index between 25 and 29.9) in Varamin city, 80 women were selected according to the available method and considering the inclusion criteria and were randomly divided into four groups. became SPSS version 22 software and analysis of covariance and Ben Feroni's post hoc test were used to analyze the research data.
Results
The covariance test showed that there is a significant difference between the research groups in the body mass index (p/>005). Ben Feroni's post hoc test showed that all three interventions were effective in improving the body mass index compared to the control group, and the result of comparing the interventions also showed that mindfulness had the greatest effect, followed by ACT and CBT.
Conclusion
Considering the effectiveness of mindfulness intervention, it is suggested to use this intervention to improve the body mass index of obese patients.
