Efficacy of Family-Oriented Respectful-Spiritual Psychological Intervention on the Emotion Regulation of the Male Adolescents in the Puberty Period

Abstract

puberty is an effective and critical period as a specific developmental time when the adolescents face problems. therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the efficacy of family-oriented respectful-spiritual psychological intervention on the emotion regulation of the male adolescents in the puberty period. the present study was quasi-experimental with pretest, posttest, control group and two-month follow-up period design. The statistical population of the present study included male adolescents in the puberty period (13-15 years old) in the first high schools in zone 5 of the city of Tehran in the academic year 2020-21. 27 male adolescents in the puberty period were selected through random sampling method and randomly accommodated into experimental and control groups. The parents of the adolescents in the experimental group received fourteen seventy-five-minute family-oriented respectful-spiritual psychological intervention during three-and-a-half months. The applied questionnaire in the current study included emotion regulation questionnaire (Garnefski, Kraakji and Spinhoven, 2001). The data from the study were analyzed via SPSS23 software through mixed variance. the results showed that family-oriented respectful-spiritual psychological intervention had significant effect on the emotions regulation of male adolescents in the puberty period (p<0.001) and could lead to the improvement of positive emotion regulation and decrease of negative emotion regulation.
