Comparing the effectiveness of theater therapy, music therapy and painting therapy methods on the feeling of competence and academic vitality in students with learning disabilities

Abstract

Learning disorders are one of the common problems in schools that cause many students drop out. The purpose of this research is compare the effectiveness of theater therapy, music therapy, and painting therapy methods on the sense of competence and academic vitality in students with learning disabilities. According to the purpose, this research is considered as an applied research. The current research is semi-experimental with experimental and control group and a follow-up period. Javadan questionnaire (2014) and Martin and Marsh questionnaire (2006) were used to collect information. The statistical population of the research is the students of the second year of primary school in the 22nd district of Tehran province, who were selected based on purposeful sampling and randomly placed in four groups of 18 people. Statistical methods in the form of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics have been used for data analysis. The study of the effect of music therapy, theater therapy and painting therapy on the sense of competence in students with disabilities showed The value of the largest root statistic is 0.165, which is significant at the significance level (P<0.020), which showed that at least one of the treatment methods was able to affect the variable of the sense of competence of students with learning disabilities. Also, with the estimates obtained, it can be said that the theater therapy method has been able to perform better than the music therapy and painting therapy methods, and after that, the music therapy and painting therapy methods are ranked next.
