Abstract

Introduction: Research has shown that marital satisfaction that is formed after marriage makes the family last and stable; therefore, the purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of morbid jealousy and self-efficacy in using social networks on women's marital trust, with the role of online monitoring as a mediator.
Methods: The design of the current research is a correlation design of the structural equation modeling (SEM) type, which is a multivariate correlation method. The statistical population in this research was all married women in Khuzestan whose husbands use social networks. Using the non-discriminatory snowball sampling method, 350 married women with electronic literacy and familiar with using social networks were selected. Subjects responded to the revised version of the Facebook Morbid Jealousy Scale by Moyes et al. (2009), the self-efficacy scale of Chan (2022), the online monitoring scale of the modified version of Ellison (2007) and the marital trust scale of Rempel and Holmes (1986). SPSS/23 statistical software and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using AMOS/23 software were used to evaluate the proposed model.
Results: The results showed that the indirect effect of morbid jealousy and self-efficacy on marital trust through online monitoring was significant -0.124 and 0.04, respectively. (P≤0.001).
Conclusion: Based on the results, it can be said that self-efficacy and morbid jealousy in the use of social networks affect marital trust through online monitoring.
