Abstract

Introduction: PTSD is one of the chronic and debilitating psychiatric disorders, which, according to the fifth statistical and diagnostic manual of mental disorders, is part of the diagnostic set of stress-related disorders that can develop after facing a traumatic event. The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of emotion-oriented therapy and acceptance commitment on post-traumatic stress and post-traumatic growth in people with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Methods: This study was a semi-experimental study with two experimental groups and one control group, which was carried out with a pre-test, post-test and follow-up plan. The statistical population included adults aged 18 to 40 with post-traumatic stress disorder who referred to psychological centers in Tehran in 1402. The sample size was 30 people who were purposefully selected and randomly divided into two experimental groups and one control group (15 people in each group). The experimental groups received emotion-oriented and acceptance and commitment treatments during 8 sessions of 90 minutes, while the control group did not receive any intervention. To collect information, the post-traumatic growth adjustment questionnaire and the SRS-PTSD questionnaire were used. The data were analyzed using two-way analysis of variance with repeated measurements.
Results:  The results of the study indicated the effect of emotion-oriented method and acceptance and commitment therapy on the dimensions of post-traumatic growth and post-traumatic trauma of adults with ptsd disorder (P<0.001) and the effectiveness of both methods was similar. (P < 0.05)..
Conclusion: According to the results, specialists active in the field of post-traumatic stress disorder can consider the use of emotion-oriented methods and acceptance and commitment therapy in the treatment of these people along with other treatments.
