Evaluating the Effect of Relationship Enrichment Program Based on Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Emotion-Oriented Couple Therapy on Marital Intimacy and Adjustment in Couples Involved in Domestic Violence

Abstract

The study was conducted for measuring the effect of relationship enrichment ‎program based on CBT and EFT on marital intimacy and adjustment in ‎couples involved in domestic violence. The method is an experimental type with a multi-‎group pre-test and post-test design with a control group. The statistical population was women involved in domestic violence (ages of 20 and 40) in District 7 of ‎Tehran in 2022. The sampling method was available and, 60 people were selected (sample group) and randomly divided into two experimental groups (20 people) and a control ‎group (20 people). CBT training and EFT training were held for the experimental groups, but the control group had ‎normal daily schedule. The data were collected using a marital compatibility and intimacy ‎questionnaire. The data were analyzed using the analysis of covariance test with repeated ‎measurements and using spss software. The findings showed that relationship enrichment training ‎based on CBT and EFT has a significant effect on marital intimacy and ‎adjustment in couples involved in domestic violence, and the results are stable in following up (p <0.05), but the results for the difference in the effect of the treatment method was not ‎meaningful.
