Abstract

Introduction: The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating mental awareness on mental well-being, attachment styles and health anxiety in patients with chronic pain.
Methods: The research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of this research included all people suffering from chronic pain who referred to specialized clinics in Tehran in 1402. Among them, 30 people were selected by purposeful sampling and randomly assigned to two groups of mindfulness experiment (15 people) and control (15 people). The group received the mindfulness test. While, the control group did not receive any intervention. Both groups were evaluated using questionnaires in pre-test, post-test and follow-up. Analysis of variance with repeated measurements and post hoc test were used to analyze the data.
Results: The results showed that there is a significant difference between the post-test and pre-test scores (p<0.05) and mindfulness could cause a significant increase in mental well-being, attachment styles and a significant decrease in health anxiety.
Conclusion: According to the obtained results, psychologists can use mindfulness to increase mental well-being and attachment styles and reduce health anxiety.
