Comparing the effectiveness of emotion-oriented schema therapy and cross-relationship analysis on cognitive-emotional order-seeking and rumination in couples with marital conflicts

Abstract
Introduction: The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of emotion-oriented schema therapy and cross-relationship analysis on emotional cognitive order-seeking and rumination of couples with marital conflicts.
Methods: The research method is quasi-experimental, with a pre-test-post-test design and a control group with a follow-up stage. The statistical population of this research consisted of all couples who referred to Abadan counseling centers and Abadan judicial service offices in 1401. The statistical sample consisted of 30 couples who were randomly divided into two experimental groups and one control group. The research tool was the questionnaire of the cognitive regulation of emotion scale of Granfsky et al. (2011) and the rumination scale of Nolen Hoeksma and Maro (1991). The research protocols included emotion-oriented schema therapy written by Leahy, Tirch, and Napolitano (2011) and interactional behavior analysis by Eric Byrne (2011). Multivariate covariance analysis and Bonferroni post hoc test were performed using SPSS version 26 statistical software at a significance level of 0.05 for data analysis
Results The findings showed that there is no significant difference in the intergroup comparison of post-tests and follow-up between the two test groups (p≥0.05); But there is a significant difference between the control group and the two experimental groups (p<0.05).
Conclusion: According to the results of the research, it can be said that both treatments have an effect on the cognitive, emotional, and rumination variables of couples in couples with marital conflict.
