Abstract
Introduction: Considering that schema therapy can play an effective role in improving psychological symptoms; Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of determining the effectiveness of schema-therapy on feelings of failure and self-compassion in people with borderline personality disorder.
Methods: The research method is quasi-experimental with random This study was a semi-experimental method with a pre-test, post-test and two-month follow-up plan with a control group. The target population was all patients with borderline personality who referred to the specialized psychological clinic in Tehran in 1403. The size of the examined sample was determined by referring to Cohen's table, 95% confidence level, 0.30 effect size and 0.83 statistical power for each group of 12 people. However, since there was a possibility of some samples falling and also in order to generalize the results, the sample size was determined to be 15 people in each group. Research tools were Neff's self-compassion scale (SCS) and Gilbert and Allen's feelings of failure questionnaire. In order to analyze the data in this research, Two-way analysis of variance with repeated measure was performed using SPSS version 25 software.
Results: The results showed that the average score of self-compassion in the treatment group significantly increased compared to the control group and the feeling of failure decreased (P<0.01).
Conclusion: It can be said that the use of schema therapy is effective on patients with borderline personality. Based on this, it is recommended to use schema therapy for improvement in people with borderline personality.
