Comparing the effectiveness of reality therapy and schema therapy on depression, dysfunctional attitudes and emotional processing of women affected by infidelity

Abstract
Aim: The aim of the present study was to compare the effectiveness of reality therapy and schema therapy on depression, dysfunctional attitudes and emotional processing of women affected by infidelity in Isfahan city. Method: Semi-experimental research method with a pre-test-post-test-follow-up design with two experimental groups and a control group and a statistical population including all women affected by the infidelity of their husbands in the city of Isfahan that the available sampling method among the betrayed women referring to the crisis intervention counseling center of the welfare organization, 45 people were randomly selected into two experimental groups (15 people in the reality therapy group, and 15 people in the schema therapy group) and the group control (15 people) were placed, but At the end, 12 women remained in the reality therapy group, 12 women in the schema therapy group, and 13 women in the control group. One of the experimental groups was treated with schema therapy for 8 sessions of 90 minutes and the other experimental group was treated with reality therapy for 8 sessions of 90 minutes. Data collection tools included the Beck depression questionnaire (1996), the Weizman and Beck dysfunctional attitudes questionnaire (1978), and the Bakker et al. emotional processing questionnaire (2010). Result: To analyze the data, statistical methods of multivariate analysis of variance were used. F observed on surface It showed a significant difference between the effectiveness of the two methods of reality therapy and schema therapy on depression and dysfunctional attitudes of women affected by infidelity.
