Abstract

The present study was conducted with the aim of determining the difference between the effectiveness of Mentalization and cognitive emotion regulation on sleep problems and depressive symptoms in children with Sluggish cognitive tempo. The research design was quasi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design and follow-up with a control group. The statistical population included all male students with Sluggish cognitive tempo symptoms aged 9 to 11 years in public schools in Urmia in the academic year 1402-1403. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 45 people were selected through purposive sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental groups and a control group (15 people in the first experimental group, 15 people in the second experimental group, and 15 people in the control group). The instruments used in the study were the standard questionnaires Sluggish cognitive tempo by Penny et al., the questionnaire on children's sleep habits by Owens et al., and the depression subscale of the Children's Symptom Scale. After selecting the sample in the pre-test stage, the participants in the experimental and control groups responded to the research questionnaires. In the next stage, the first experimental group received Mentalization and the second experimental group received cognitive emotion regulation intervention, while the control group remained on the waiting list and did not receive any psychological intervention until the post-test. At the end of the training period, the participants in the experimental and control groups answered the research questionnaires again in the post-test stages,
