Comparing the Effectiveness of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Schema Therapy on People with Gender Dysphoria Diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder

Abstract
Background and purpose: The aim of the present study was to compare the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy training with schema therapy on social anxiety of people with gender dysphoria.
Materials and methods: This research is an applied type and a semi-experimental research method that was conducted with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group and a three-month follow-up. The statistical population of this research included all the people with different degrees of gender dysphoria disorder who had referred to treatment centers and clinics in Shiraz city from 1400 to 1402.The sample of this research was selected by convenience sampling from people with gender dissatisfaction who referred to treatment clinics in Shiraz. In fact, in this research, first of all, people who claim gender dissatisfaction in the age range of 18 to 40 years and referred to 3 psychiatric centers. were invited to visit one of the counseling and psychotherapy centers in Shiraz. Then, among the referrals, a clinical interview was first conducted by a psychiatrist and an expert psychologist in order to definitively diagnose gender dissatisfaction disorder, and among the people who had this disorder and other criteria for entering the study, 60 people were selected using the available sampling method.
