Abstract
Introduction: Considering the importance of adolescence in the formation of people's future, solving the issues and problems created during this period becomes doubly important. Procrastination is one of the most important issues that teenagers may be involved with and that affects their academic or social progress. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to design a conceptual group therapy model for Iranian adolescents' procrastination using a treatment approach based on acceptance and commitment.
Materials and Methods: In this study, the research method was qualitative and based on a case study. In this regard, using a targeted sampling approach based on criteria (based on field, expertise and related activity history) and theoretical saturation technique, in-depth interviews were conducted with seventeen faculty members and consultants in connection with the phenomenon under investigation. Then, the obtained data were analyzed using the theme analysis method and were organized in the form of basic, organizing, and comprehensive themes, and the theme network.
Results: The results of the study showed that the conceptual group therapy model of Iranian adolescents' procrastination based on acceptance and commitment therapy approach included 5 organizing themes, including self-help skills, group therapy implementation platform, mindfulness, commitment and valuing, and group support. Each of these themes also has its own indicators.
Conclusion: Based on the extracted components and indicators, it seems that new and more complex dimensions should be applied in the group therapy of Iranian adolescents' procrastination based on acceptance and commitment therapy approach.
