Methods: The research method in this study was correlational. The statistical population in this study was all high school students in West Azerbaijan province in the academic year of 1997-98. In this study, 214 people were selected using available sampling method. Sanson self-harm questionnaire, Collins and Reed attachment questionnaire, Young's early maladaptive schema questionnaire and abnormal personality dimensions questionnaire were used to collect data. Pearson correlation coefficient and path analysis were used to analyze the data.
Results: The results showed that the relationship between the total score of self-harming behavior with all abnormal dimensions of personality and all components of attachment except secure attachment has a positive relationship but has a negative relationship with secure attachment. The results also showed that attachment to self-injurious behavior is related to the mediation of abnormal dimensions of personality.
