Introduction and purpose: the adolescence is a stage in the human growth which alters his psychological, cognitive and emotional processes. Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of trans-diagnostic training of life skills on the self-esteem and anxiety of female adolescents.
Material and method: it was a quasi-experimental study with pretest, posttest and control group design. The statistical population included all first high school (seventh to ninth grade) female students at the schools of Ramsar in the summer of 2019. 20 female adolescents were selected though purposive sampling method and they were randomly accommodated into experimental and control groups (10 adolescents in the experimental and 10 in the control group). The experimental group received twelve seventy-five-minute intervention sessions of trans-diagnostic training of life skills during three month. The applied questionnaires in this study included self-esteem questionnaire (Cooper Smith, 1967) and anxiety questionnaire (Kettle, 1970). The data from the study were analyzed through ANCOVA method.
Findings: the results showed that the trans-diagnostic training of life skills has had significant effect on the self-esteem and anxiety of female adolescents (p<0.001) and led to the increase of self-esteem and decrease of anxiety in them.
Conclusion: the findings of the present study revealed that training self-differentiation can be applied as an efficient method to increase self-esteem and decrease anxiety in female adolescents through employing therapy techniques of acceptance and commitment, the therapy based on compassion, and dialectic behavior therapy.
