Abstract

The aim of the present study was to compare the effectiveness of the Pennsylvania prevention program in both classical and adapted to Iranian-Islamic criteria on the thematic relationships of mothers of children with autism spectrum disorders. For this purpose, among the mothers of students with autism spectrum disorders who had a file in Shahroud Rehabilitation Center and their autism was identified and registered by a psychiatrist, 45 volunteers were selected by availability and completely randomly. They were replaced in two intervention groups and one control group, so that each group included 15 people. The interventions were performed in five two-hour weekly sessions and participants answered the Bell Thematic Relationship Questionnaire before and after. Data analysis using multivariate covariance statistical method showed that there is a significant difference between the effectiveness of these two methods of intervention on the thematic relationships of mothers of children with autism spectrum disorders. The scales of insecure attachment and social incompetence caused the thematic relationships of mothers of children with autism spectrum disorders at the level of P <0.05, while the classic Pennsylvania prevention program had no significant effect on any of the thematic relationships.
