The effectiveness of motor rehabilitation program on motor skills and attention of children with intellectual disabilities

Abstract
Introduction: This research aimed to determine the effectiveness of motor rehabilitation program on motor skills and attention of children with developmental disabilities.
Methodology: The current research method was semi-experimental and its design was pre-test and post-test with a control group with a two-month follow-up. From the statistical population of children with developmental intellectual disability (educable) 7 to 12 years old in exceptional elementary schools in Tehran in the academic year 1402-1403, first among the children with developmental intellectual disability (educable) 7 to 12 years old in exceptional elementary school. 30 people were selected from the city of Tehran with an IQ between 50 and 75 using the available method and they were randomly assigned to two groups of 15 people (experimental and control). Bronincks-Ozertsky motor skills test (1972) and Wechsler IQ test for children (2003) were used as research tools. Data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance.
Results: The results showed that the post-test and the follow-up test of the motor and attention skills of children with developmental disabilities increased in the post-test compared to the pre-test. The results of the analysis of variance with repeated measurements also showed that there is a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in terms of motor skills and attention, and this difference is permanent due to time (p<0.0001).
Conclusion: The motor rehabilitation program should be used in the present study to improve the motor skills and attention of children with developmental disabilities.
