Abstract
Introduction: Chronic psychological injuries such as anxiety cause damage to children's emotional processing and regulation. according to this the present study was conducted to development of psychological capital training package and its effectiveness on social competence and alexitimia of children with symptoms of anxiety disorder.
Methods: The research method of the present study was analysis thematic through inductive method in the qualitative part and quasi-experimental with pretest, posttest, control group design and two-month follow-up period in the quantitative part. The statistical population in the quantitative part includes articles, books and theses related to the theory of anxiety disorder and psychological capital; And in the quantitative part, it included children with symptoms of anxiety disorders who were studying in the fourth and fifth grade of primary school in the academic year of 2020-2021 in Tehran. 35 children with symptoms of anxiety disorders were selected through purposive sampling method and randomly accommodated into experimental and control groups (18 children in the experimental group and 17 children in the control group). The experimental group received the psychological capital training package during ten weeks in ten 75-minute sessions. Children's Anxiety Scale (CAS), Alexitimia Questionnaire (IQ) and Social Competence Scale (SCS) were used in the present study. The data from the study were analyzed through mixed ANOVA via SPSS23 statistical software.
Results: The results showed that n psychological capital training package enjoys a suitable content validity from the experts’ viewpoint. Moreover, this package has had effect on the social competence (P≤0.001) and alexitimia (P≤0.001) of children with symptoms of anxiety disorder.
Conclusion: Based on the findings of the present research, it can be concluded that the psychological capital training package using acceptance of resilience training, emotion management, social responsibility, hope and self-efficacy can be used as an efficient method to increace social competence and reduce alexitimia of children with symptoms of anxiety disorder.
