Abstract
Introduction: In addition to physical consequences, uterine cancer is associated with numerous psychological and interpersonal problems that can affect the quality of marital life and the ability to regulate emotions in patients. The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy on the quality of marital life and emotion regulation in women with uterine cancer. Methods: Here is a precise, journal-ready academic English translation: This study was a quasi-experimental research with a pretest–posttest design and a control group. The statistical population included women diagnosed with uterine cancer who referred to medical centers and specialized clinics in Tehran. Among them, 26 participants were selected through convenience sampling and randomly assigned to either the experimental or control group. The experimental group received 12 sessions of 90-minute cognitive-behavioral therapy, whereas the control group received no psychological intervention. The research instruments included the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire by Gross and John (2003) and the World Health Organization Quality of Life–BREF (WHOQOL-BREF). The data were analyzed using one-way analysis of covariance (ANCOVA).. Results: The results showed that cognitive behavioral therapy had a significant effect on improving the quality of marital life and emotion regulation in women with uterine cancer (p≤0.05). Also, the mean scores of marital quality of life and adaptive emotion regulation strategies in the experimental group increased significantly compared to the control group (p≤0.05). Conclusion: It can be said that this approach increases the psychological adaptation of patients by correcting dysfunctional thoughts, training coping skills, and improving the ability to manage emotions. Therefore, the use of cognitive behavioral interventions along with medical treatments can play an important role in improving the mental health and quality of life of these patients
