Abstract

Introduction: Evaluating the quality of educational services, particularly in medical universities, plays a pivotal role in enhancing teaching effectiveness and empowering students. Despite its importance, there is a noticeable lack of valid and systematic tools for comprehensive assessment of educational quality. This study aimed to design and validated a model for evaluating the quality of educational services at Fars University of Medical Sciences.
Methods: This study was part of an exploratory mixed-methods research. In the first qualitative phase, the components of educational service quality were identified, followed by a quantitative phase to evaluate the proposed model. During instrument development, a researcher-made questionnaire based on the extracted themes was designed. The quantitative sample included 265 faculty members and students selected through stratified random sampling from a population of 857 individuals. Data analysis was conducted at two levels: descriptive statistics and instrument reliability (Cronbach’s alpha) were performed using SPSS version 26, while confirmatory factor analysis and model fit indices evaluation were carried out using LISREL version 8.8.
Results: The analysis indicated that the proposed model demonstrated good fit. The dimensions of faculty-related human factors, educational, staff-related human factors, structural, student-related human factors, social, and research components were confirmed as the main factors of educational service quality. The model also showed acceptable construct validity, reliability, and fit indices.
Conclusion: The validated model can serve as a reliable tool for monitoring, planning, and improving the quality of educational services in medical universities.
