Introduction and purpose: Many adolescents with chronic diseases, including diabetes, suffer from varying degrees of impairment in their daily activities. During this process, they suffer from mood and psychological disorders, and as a result, their social-emotional competence and perception of self-efficacy decreases. According to this the present study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of unified protocol for transdiagnostic treatment on social-emotional competence and self-efficacy perception of adolescents with type 1 diabetes.
Methodology: The current study was a semi-experimental application with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group and a two-month follow-up period. The statistical population included adolescents with type 1 diabetes who were studying in the city of Isfahan in the academic year of 2023-2024. 28 adolescents with type 1 diabetes were selected by voluntary sampling method and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups (14 adolescent in the experimental group and 14 adolescent in the control group). The adolescents in the experimental group received the unified protocol for transdiagnostic treatment during five weeks in ten 75-minute sessions. Social-Emotional Competence Questionnaire (SECQ) and Efficacy Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (SEQCA) were used in the present study. The data were analyzed through mixed ANOVA via SPSS23 software.
Findings: The results showed that unified protocol for transdiagnostic treatment has significant effect on the social-emotional competence (p<0.0001) and self-efficacy perception (p<0.0001) in the adolescents with type 1 diabetes.
