The Role of Job Characteristics in Cognitive Assessment of Employees in Facing Aggressive Clients in Armed Forces Hospitals with a Qualitative Approach

Abstract

Introduction: Previous research has shown that employees' cognitive status is influential in the way they treat their clients; Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the role of job characteristics in cognitive evaluation of employees in the face of aggressive clients in the Armed Forces hospitals located in Tehran.
Methods: Interpretive paradigm, qualitative approach and grand theory strategy (data foundation) were used in this research. In order to access the operational managers and staff, the snowball sampling method was chosen and the hidden content analysis tactic was used to analyze in-depth interviews and related articles of the day. Since the data format is audio and text, MAXQDA Pro 2020 software has been used for coding..
Results:  The findings showed that the phenomenon of cognitive evaluation of employees is created by five dimensions: threats to job goals, threats to self-esteem (confidence), need for control, threats to physical health (physical well-being) and threats to justice.
Conclusion: It can be stated that the underlying conditions in job characteristics, personality traits and emotional reactions are introduced that job characteristics have general context and social support components.
