Comparing the effectiveness of short-term cognitive behavioral group therapy and brief intervention on improving emotional emotion-focused coping skills of addicts covered by Ahvaz harm reduction centers

Abstract
Abstract
Background and Aim: Addiction is a type of social damage that has extensive mental and physical disorders and imposes a lot of costs on societies. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of short-term cognitive behavioral group therapy and brief intervention on improving emotional emotion-focused coping skills of addicts covered by Ahvaz harm reduction centers.
Method: This study is a semi-experimental study with pre-test, post-test and follow-up stage. From two Ahwaz harm reduction centers, a simple random center was selected. After sampling and estimating the sample size, 80 subjects were selected and the groups were randomly divided into three groups (two experimental groups and one control group). Carver's coping strategies questionnaire was used to collect data. In this study, data analysis was performed using SPSS-20 software and variance analysis test and a significant level less than 0.05 was considered.
Results: The results showed that cognitive-behavioral group therapy had an effect on increasing problem-oriented coping style as much as brief intervention. Also, brief intervention had a significant effect on social emotional support, positive evaluation, religious aid and had no effect on acceptance, denial and humor. Cognitive behavioral group therapy had no effect on emotion-focused coping style components.
