Investigating the relationship between perceived social support and academic excitement with students' mental health

Abstract

Introduction: The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between emotional support and academic excitement with the mental health of high school students in district 5 of Tehran.
Materials and Methods: The research sample is 270 people, including 180 female students and 90 male students, based on the table of Morgan and Karjesi, who were selected by multi-stage cluster sampling method. In this research, Goldberg and Hayes mental health questionnaire (1972), Phillips social support questionnaire (1986) and Pakran et al. Pearson correlation and simultaneous regression analysis were used.
Results: The results of the research showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between social support and academic excitement and the mental health of secondary school students in Aqqla city, and they can predict mental health. Also, there is a positive and significant relationship between all sub-scales of social support and mental health, and the sub-scales of academic excitement have a positive and significant relationship with all sub-scales of mental health. There is a significant relationship between all sub-scales of academic excitement and social support in students.
