Abstract
Introduction: Lack of life expectancy of prisoners is one of the psychological problems in these people and the review of research shows a research gap in the field of effective treatments. Therefore, this study was conducted to compare the effectiveness of compassion therapy and reality therapy on the life expectancy of male prisoners.
Methods: This study was performed using a semi-experimental method with pre-test-post-test design with a control group. From the statistical population of male clients in Aligudarz prison, 45 people were selected using targeted sampling method and randomly divided into three groups. The research tool was the Life Hope Questionnaire - Miller and Powerz (1988). Bavarian covariance and follow-up test were used to analyze the research data.
Results: The research findings showed that both compassionate therapy and reality therapy had a significant effect on increasing the life expectancy of male prisoners (p≤0 / 001); Ben Freuni's test showed that compassionate method Therapy was more effective than reality therapy (p≤0 / 001).
Conclusion: Despite the fact that both reality therapy and compassion therapy are effective in increasing the life expectancy of imprisoned men, the use of compassionate therapy is recommended due to its greater effectiveness.
