Predicting marital conflicts based on communication skills, emotional skills and resilience of couples

Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to predict the effect of marital conflict based on communication skills, emotional skills and resilience of couples. The method of the present study was applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-correlational in terms of implementation method. The statistical population of this study was all couples with family disputes and marital conflicts who referred to clinics and family counseling centers in Shiraz in 1400. According to Morgan's table, 384 people were used as the sample size. Sampling method was available in this study. In this study, to collect information from the MCQ Marital Conflict Questionnaire, Sanaei Zakir and Barati (2008), Quinidam Communication Skills Questionnaire (2001), Emotional Skills Questionnaire (Shatte et al. Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (1998), Granfsky Emotion Cognitive Regulation Questionnaire (2006), Baker Emotional Processing Questionnaire (2007) and Connor & Davidson (2003) Resilience Questionnaire were used. In order to analyze the data, inferential statistics (correlation and regression) were used. Also, the analysis of this research was performed using SPSS software version 25. The findings of this study showed that marital conflicts can be predicted based on couples' communication skills and its dimensions, couples' emotional skills and its dimensions, and couples' resilience and dimensions. From these findings, it can be concluded that improving communication and emotional skills as well as couple resilience will reduce the couple's conflicts.
