Abstract

Introduction: Losing a spouse as a traumatic event and its corresponding psychological and social consequences exposes female heads of the household to various psychological and social injuries and reduces the control of the thoughts of this group of people in the society. The present study was conducted with the aim of neurofeedback treatment on thought control strategies of female heads of households in Tehran.
Method: The method of the present research was a semi-experimental research, with a pre-test, post-test design with a control group, from the statistical population of the study of women heads of households under the support of charities supporting the empowerment of women heads of households in Tehran, based on the available sampling method of 40 people. (20 people in the experimental group and 20 people in the control group) were selected as samples. Thought control strategies questionnaire (Wells and Davis, 1994) was the research tool, SPSS version 26 software and covariance analysis were used for data analysis.
Results: The results showed that there is a significant difference between neurofeedback treatment and evidence in terms of negative thought control strategies (including worry and punishment strategies) and positive thought control strategies (including distracting strategies, social control and reappraisal). Neurofeedback treatment has been more effective in reducing negative thought control strategies and increasing positive thought control strategies of women heads of households.
Conclusion: In order to increase the positive thought control strategies and reduce the negative thought strategies of female heads of the household, it is suggested to use neurofeedback therapy.
