Relationships between Perceived Social Support and Self-Sufficiency with Psychological Well-Being in elderly patients with cardiovascular diseases: the Mediating Role of psychological capital

Abstract

The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between perceived social support and self-efficacy with psychological well-being through the mediating role of psychological capital in the elderly with cardiovascular disease.
Methods: The present study was a descriptive correlation and statistical population included all elderly men with cardiovascular disease referred to hospitals in Qazvin in 1398, which was performed by targeted sampling. A total of 230 people were selected and then answered four questionnaires of the perceived social support scale of Zimet et al. 1998, the self-sufficiency scale of Jalali et al., The 1989 psychological well-being scale, and the Lutans Psychological Capital Scale. In order to analyze the data, regression analysis test and path analysis method were used using SPSS software version 16.
Results: The results of data analysis showed that there is no significant relationship between perceived social support and self-sufficiency, but there is a significant relationship between perceived social support and psychological well-being and between self-sufficiency and psychological well-being of the elderly; Perceived and psychological well-being does not play a mediating role, but acts as a mediator between self-sufficiency and psychological well-being.
Conclusion: This study shows the effective role of perceived social support and self-sufficiency and psychological capital in predicting the psychological well-being of the elderly and it is recommended that psychological and counseling interventions to improve and Promoting the psychological well-being of these people should be considered.
