Abstract

Introduction: Research has shown that the process of globalization, rapid and fundamental technological advances, new advances in information technology, rapid changes in consumption and demand patterns, energy resources, scarcity of resources and high costs depend on a series of capabilities. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to investigate the role of business intelligence on the implementation of strategic management components in the pharmaceutical industry.
Methods: The research method is descriptive-correlation. The standard 27-item questionnaire of Hill and Jones (2007) was used to collect data, the validity of which was reaffirmed using the content validity ratio, and the reliability of the questionnaire was tested using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the questionnaire was equal to 0.79 which indicated the appropriate reliability of the research tool. The statistical population of this study was all senior managers of sales, marketing and technology of pharmaceutical companies in Alborz and Tehran provinces (360 managers), of which 275 people were selected by available sampling method. Multiple analysis of variance (MANOVA) and SPSS software were used for data analysis.
Results: The results showed that organizations with a higher level of intelligence are more successful than other organizations in implementing strategic management components (P≤0.001).
Conclusion: It seems that business intelligence plays a significant role in making correct and timely decisions as well as implementing strategic management in organizations.
