Introduction: Pathological skin picking is an uncontrollable, repetitive, body-focused behavior to manipulate one's own skin that leads to skin damage and psychosocial harm. This study aimed to model the mediating role of impulsive behaviors in the relationship between behavioral brain systems (BAS), (BIS) and symptoms of skin picking disorder.
Methods: The present research design, in terms of nature and method, is in the category of correlational studies and is of the structural equation type. It was conducted to investigate the mediating role of impulsive behaviors in the relationship between behavioral brain systems (BAS), (BIS) and skin picking disorder symptoms. This study was conducted between Day 1402 and Ordibehesht 1403, among all third-grade high school students in the seven districts of Mashhad and the Tabadkan district, who were selected using a random sampling method and a cluster model. .
Participants were assessed using research instruments including Jackson's Inhibition/Activation Systems, Barratt's Impulsivity Inventory (2004), and Keaton et al.'s Skin Disorder Questionnaire (2016). It should be noted that the aforementioned statistical analyses were conducted using AMOS and SPSS, version 22.
Findings: BAS does not have a direct effect on the symptoms of peeling disorder in students. Also, students' impulsivity has a direct effect. BIS does not have a direct effect on the symptoms of peeling disorder in students. Also, students' impulsivity has a direct effect. Impulsivity does not have a direct effect on the symptoms of peeling disorder in students.
