Introduction: The present study was conducted with the aim of designing a social adaptation model based on identity styles mediated by coping strategies in students.
Methods: The present study was applied in terms of its purpose and descriptive-correlational research in terms of its research method. The statistical population of the present study included all students studying at Arak Islamic Azad University in the first half of 1401, from which 450 people were selected using the available sampling method. The research instruments were the Berzonsky Identity Styles Questionnaire (1989), the Folkman and Lazarus Coping Strategies Questionnaire (1985), and the Bell Adaptability Questionnaire (1939). Structural equation modeling analysis was used to test the research hypotheses.
Results: The findings showed that the structural model of the study fits the collected data. The indirect path coefficient between confused identity style and social adjustment through emotion-focused (p=0.001, β=0.071) and problem-focused (p=0.001, β=0.061) coping strategies was positive and significant, and the indirect path coefficient between informational identity style and social adjustment through problem-focused coping strategy was negative and significant.
