Abstract
The present study aimed to determine the fit of the model of the relationship between control and differentiation with spousal violence mediated by psychological stress in couples referring to counseling centers in Tabriz. The research method was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population of this study included all spouses referring to the social emergency in Tabriz in the first half of 1402 AH, 305 people. Using simple and purposive random sampling method and based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, 240 people were selected (n = 240). The data collection tools were the Haj Yahya Violence Against Women Questionnaire (1999), the Revised Graham-Cown and Archer Controlling Behavior Scale (2005), the Skorn and Friedlander Self-Differentiation Inventory (1998), and the Seyyed Khorasani Psychological Stress Questionnaire (1377). Data analysis using Pearson's correlation coefficient showed that controlling has a direct effect on spousal violence and the calculated relationship is statistically positive and significant (p<0.05, β = 0.374); differentiation has a direct effect on spousal violence and the calculated relationship is statistically negative and significant (p<0.05, β = -0.421). Structural equation modeling findings showed that controlling has an indirect and positive effect on spousal violence through the mediation of psychological stress (p<0.05, β = 0.496) and differentiation has an indirect and negative effect on spousal violence through the mediation of psychological stress (p<0.05, β = -0.611). Therefore, the model of the relationship between control and differentiation and spousal violence mediated by psychological stress in couples referred to Tabriz counseling centers is consistent with empirical data.
